Cutting the Red Tape!
Moose Deer Point Marina was officially opened and established in 1969. 1969 was a big year for a lot of people and in particular there was one person whom had a special honor to the people of Moose Deer Point. The person with this special honor was the Minister of Indian Affairs at the time, whom through his initiatives, helped create the First Marina in Canada owned and operated by The First Nations. This Minister of Indian Affairs was actually the one who cut the 'Red tape' at the grand opening ceremony. Gaining popularity through great acts in this country he continued to move his way up the ranks of government to eventually become the Prime Minister of this great Country we call 'Canada'. His name is Jean Chretien.
The Magic of Blue Sapphire.
The Blue Sapphire is a 42 foot, three deck cabin cruiser yacht, personally selected and used by the late Pope John Paul II for both of his voyages around Lake Simcoe as part of his Canadian World Youth Day tour in 2002. Parked just around the corner from the first point it can be seen from the shores at the base of Moose Deer Point Marina. Blue Sapphire is by definition 'A beautiful and rare Gem' and having the ability to see this boat is an experience with the same meaning.
